DIRTEE FEAST, POP UP restaurant at The Churchill Tavern, Ramsgate.

You might have read my article about how pubs that serve food are facing a huge challenge to stay open due to crippling rising costs. I wrote about the costs of maintaining a kitchen and how to make a profit, but ended it be offering an exciting option which is the POP UP!

If you haven't then you might want to have a read by clicking here.

One such pub has recognised the opportunity and has invited DIRTEE FEAST to set up camp in their kitchen, and I for one admire that.

The Churchill Tavern in Ramsgate is a public house on the western clifftops of Ramsgate. Overlooking the stunning Ramsgate harbour and packaged within a gorgeous Georgian structure, it typifies what a proper pub is.

Wood panelling and floorboards, real ale at the pump and a guaranteed community of pot bellied locals cackling away at their own jokes, it is a place where characters come to play. Far from the waifs and strays though for the locals could be said to be fairly well off, many of the homes around here are nudging into the million pound bracket.

An ideal location then for a splendid restaurant and Churchills has for as long as anyone can remember been serving food. Traditional fayre if there was somewhere to get quality pub grub then Churchills would be a firm choice, however after COVID it never really got back in the swing with food.

Curious then that Churchills would consider diversification. I can only speculate in my assumption that even Churchills has found the pinch of peoples wallets and has gotten creative?

So without further a do let's get down and DIRTEE with its resident POP UP DIRTEE FEAST.

DIRTEE FEAST is a purveyor of what I like to say is naughty food.

DIRTEE by name and filthy by nature.

They turn up the dial and produce food on steroids. Everything is bigger, badder, better. They are the lip fillers and fake boobs, yeah they make food porn!

The brain child of Dean Adams, who had spent most of his working life working in, and managing pubs. COVID hit and it was a time of reflection Dean said, and it motivated him to take a new direction. He took himself off to college to train as a chef, and this is when the idea for DIRTEE FEAST was born.

He started doing occasional pop ups until he started a weekend residency at The Ravensgate Arms which allows him to spread his wings and stretch his legs. It wasn't long before he was open all week. Quite dramatically and sadly The Ravensgate Arms decided to close its doors leaving Dean without a base, and his DIRTEE fans were not happy.

Opportunity arises when you least expect it, so they say anyway but the how's and when's are irrelevant, DIRTEE FEAST started serving out of Churchills kitchens in May 2023.
