THE TWO HALVES, MARGATE. How many halves make a pint? Two. What do you do on the loo while you do a..... Two Halves review?

Prime seafront location + The best toilet in Margate + All pints £3.50 = End of review.

There's nothing that says welcome to the great British seaside like a bucket and spade, but if that doesn't whet your whistle then a decent pub is up there too.

It's not just the day tripping Londoners that like to wander around and have a nose, the lesser spotted locals flock to the seafront to be a part of the party, soaking up the atmosphere just as much as the sunshine.

There's plenty to see, plenty of places to try, but I guarantee as sure is eggs is eggs, no matter what time of day, as long as the suns out you will not get a seat outside The Two Halves.

Located in the prime row of resteraunts shops and bars across the road from the beach is a small but perfectly placed micro pub, you might get 15 seated inside, another 8 outside. It's windows are wide open in the summer giving you a fantastic vista of the coastline, and to people watch, so sitting in the window is a real treat.

Micro pubs are great because they pack alot in. The selection of beers and ciders can be quite staggering, often there is a large chalk board menu on the wall, which for the cornassuir beer lovers or sommeliers out there is just heaven. This is what you find at The Two Halves. In fact you find in The Two Halves exactly what you want and expect. It's simply a brilliant little pub.

There's something that doesn't add up, literally.

Most pubs or bars you go to around here, no I will change that, any other pub or bar you go to around here you will not got much change out of £20 for a pint and a large G&T or large wine for that matter.

I look at the change in my hand, it's £9! £9 change from £20!

Have they made a mistake, do I come clean and point it out or do I take my change, put on my best poker face and tell the mrs to grab her coat?

All pints £3.50

This is 2022 and a pint is not £3.50. In some pubs now a pint of something can be as much as £7...there is even micropub nearby I will also write a review for that charges £10 for a can of beer, that's not even a pint!

£3.50??? I can't get over it!

This isnt madness, the landlord hasn't had one too many and wants to throw his money away because his horse came in... No...

This is simple business sense.

Fair pricing makes people happy, well it certainly makes me happy.

Profit makes the owner happy, and happy customers help make more profit.

Its not rocket science.

Isn't a micro pub just for pot bellied males that like talking about rubbish and fart alot? Well I can't guarantee you won't see a few but The Two Halves naturally has both halves of the audience covered!

The wines on offer are carefully selected of good quality. The premium spirits are on offer with some very tempting flavours you are likely yet to try, and there are some special offers too, like a refreshing G and T with a funky tonic water for sensible money.

Contentment. That's what the over riding feeling when at The Two Halves.

It's well thought out and they deliver an excellent quality product in unfussy surroundings but in a  premium location, and they dont try and pull your trousers down in the dingo dollar department.

Talking of pulling your pants down, Even a trip to the loo will make you smile.

A last note, a final mention, the service is always friendly, accommodating, kids are welcome too.

The bar staff will engage in chat about pretty much anything, but if you catch the owner working you will double take and I guarantee that you will be asking your self "I'm sure that is Harry Rednapp"

HOW DOES IT SCORE

1) Is it to the expected standard? Yes it is simply brilliant but it is the standard you would hope to have everywhere, so ONE STAR

2) Does it do something that you have always wanted to try?  Yes (if you love your craft ales) because the range is constantly changing, that feeling of being a kid in a sweet shop never gets old ONE STAR AND A BONUS

3) Is it fairly priced? ABSOLUTELY. Priced to please as they say ONE STAR AND A BONUS

4) Cleanliness, including customer toilets. It is pleasingly clean throughout. Local magazines are on hand to browse other local businesses. For the sheer fact it has taken a hugely amusing effort to adorn the toilet walls with British seaside holiday humour means ONE STAR AND A BONUS

5) Service. The service is always pleasant. It still makes me chuckle that the have to scurry off to the back room to pour your drink... A bit like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben (classic kids animated TV show) ONE STAR.

CONTRIBUTING EVIDENCE

A) Does it have a clear and relevant identity? Well it says micro pub and thats what it is!

B) Does it stand out for quality and standards?  It says The Two Halves and thats what it sells, and pints, and wines..... The big sign outside which simply says "All pints £3.50" is effective.

C) Is there areas of the business that someone else does better? It ticks all the boxes of a Micro Pub,
The only reason to go somewhere else is to get food, or find somewhere in the sun, and they can't do anything about the sun!
I wonder if there is any scope to introduce a better range of snacks, but they might say they simply dont have the space.

D) Does it diversify? It diversifies as much as a place like this can

E) Will customers return without hesitation? Absolutely, unless they want to be on the harbour or want food.

CLEARLY AN OUTSTANDING LITTLE PUB AND BUSINESS SCORING THE FULL FIVE STARS AND THREE BONUS STARS MAKING THIS ONE OF MY HIGHEST SCORING REVIEWS. IF YOU HAVE ONE PINT OR TWO MAKE A POINT IF GOING TO THE LOO!
