SARGASSO, MARGATE. Michelin listed quality for not as much as you would think


SARGASSO, Harbour Arm, Margate.

I wrote a brief article on Sargasso earlier this year which in all honestly didn't do anything more but to point out the obvious and to add a bit of content in my infancy as a hospitality blogger. So no harm done because sometimes I look back and wonder what motivated me to say what I did, but not in this case (Phew!)

Bib Gourmand is the Michelin title it holds which simply means good food at good value.
I still haven't had the opportunity to experience Sargasso for myself but will admit to being a very nosy passer-by who has more than a lingering look at what people were eating!

So it was on a glorious Saturday morning before the vendors and purveyors of food and drink on the harbour arm have opened their doors to the paying public, I was enjoying a cycle around to take in this magnificent stench, I mean sea air!  Ah well it is mother nature at its finest, when the wind and tides are in a certain direction with a bit of vitamin D baking it there is nothing you can do!

Anyway back to business and the large windows of Sargasso offer a view into the kitchen space and I couldn't help notice that there were a few immaculately presented chefs prepping for service, and whilst there shouldn't be anything unusual about that, I cant help think and admire the workmanship that goes into creating a plate of food.

Stealth-fully I made my way over to the external menu board and took out my camera and took a snap. In my head I was 007 gathering top secret intelligence but in reality I was as elegant and slick as Johnny English.

What isn't to love on a Michelin recommended restaurants menu when all the dishes are well south of £20, well one is £24 but you get the gist.

This is why this I admire this place, they are not trying to look at anyone else and replicate, they do not conform to the narrative of a seaside restaurant that is pushing a bloated menu of tourist enticing headlines. They are happy to do their own thing by serving small plates and grazing dishes to people who appreciate the finest produce cooked to exacting standards. 

If that is not a reason to give it a try, I don't know what is
