I had imagined myself as some kind of clairvoyant making predictions on success or failure, commenting on the psyche of the business model, but to be fair i'm just over opinionated. CHUCK AND BLADE, RAMSGATE.

Ramsgate welcomes a new and exciting restaurant where the old "Travellers in Italy" restaurant was but more popularly remembered as Pizza Express which enjoyed a regal position on Ramsgates Royal Harbour marina within this gorgeous building. Welcome then to Chuck and Blade who have emerged onto the hospitality stage like The Prodigy on cocaine. I admit I had never heard of them and that is forgivable given they only started as a pop up in 2020, but now they have 4 sites in Kent and appear to be on the charge! I love a success story, especially when it is against all the odds, don't they know there's a war on? Yes the cost of living weighs heavily on most hospitality businesses but like I've written before, if you are attractive then you can not only survive, but you can thrive. DUKES, MARGATE. Finally open. The definition of Bohemian.

I first wrote this review back in January when I assumed that it was opening, and it would appear I was wrong so it would only be right to put the record straight. It is now August and for reasons unknown to myself it has only just announced its official opening! So clearly things must have changed, so to play fair I have edited the review to remove any references which may not relate to now.. phew, now I have excised myself of blame or guilt, let's go! I sit here (in January) taking stock of my first visit to DUKES, in old town Margate. Weirdly I have to start from a slightly strange position. Their ethos is fiercely local and sustainable and even the tables are made of compressed recycled plastic.
